Brittani & Clay
Brittani and Clay (yes, we share the same name :)) are getting married at the beautiful rustic Clement Farm in Oxford NC. They’re a vibrant young couple and are very much in love with each other.
We did their engagement photos at Fearrington Village in Pittsboro, NC.It was a bright hot day. We walked around, chatted and created some beautiful images.
What I love about being a wedding photographer in Raleigh NC, is that we get to meet people from all kinds of backgrounds and age, but each one of our couples has a unique story to tell. Britanni and Clay are not different. Read on to learn more about them.
A little bit about how they met
Clay started working with my brother in the winter of 2014. He frequently heard Matthew talking about me and was curious so he looked me up on Facebook and decided to send me a friend request.
Later that night he sent me a message on Facebook and we started talking here and there as friends. It wasn’t until April of 2015 that I actually met him in person for the first time. My brother convinced me to come out to the bar where Clay was having a birthday get together and after several hesitations, I decided to go……I remember sitting there having a drink and a conversation with Heather (my sister in law) when I heard his voice order a drink. It was his voice that first got my attention and I couldn’t help but to laugh.
Anyone who knows Clay knows he has the deepest countriest voice ever. I looked over and laughed and he smiled at me. I told his mother that night that I thought he was soooo cute and her words were “Go for it”! It wasn’t until about two months later that we became really good friends and would stay up for hours talking every night.
We talked about past relationships and struggles. About what we wanted in life and goals. It was during this time that I just knew this was someone that I wanted in my life. I wouldn’t dare tell him this though because whoever knows me knows I am terribly stubborn.
He finally asked me out to Kanki and we decided to triple date with Allison/Phillip and Vernon/Danielle. After dinner, we went on a boat ride with some friends on the lake and during this ride, I just knew. A day later during my nephew’s Kylen birthday, he asked me out and I said yes! I didn’t know how it was going to go but during that next year, he was incredible to me and my daughter. Clay and Alexis have such a special bond and the more I saw him love my daughter the more I fell in love with him. We have currently been together for over four years.
How about the engagement?
We got engaged in December 2016 in front of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. Clay had been planning this engagement with my parents for months. He knew I wanted to see the Christmas lights and decorations at the Biltmore so he planned a mountain trip with my parents and we went. When we got to the Biltmore we all got hot beverages and we walked to the beautiful fountain right in front of the Biltmore. Clay called my daughter over to him and he got down on one knee in front of hundreds of people and proposed to me with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. The scenery and day was like out of a fairy tale. It was absolutely magical and beautiful.
How did she pick her wedding vendors?
I have always known I wanted a romantic rustic wedding venue. When researching online for months, before I found one online that I absolutely fell in love with Clement Farms. I made an appointment with them to come to look at the venue and when I saw it in person it was even more magical and I knew this was where I had to get married. I also knew that my photography for my big day was very important and I had to have a photographer who takes great pride in their work. When I found Photos by Clay I instantly fell in love with the beautiful work this husband/wife team does. When we had our engagement session they took their time and had great patience and produced some of the most perfect images for us. We are so very thankful for all of our wedding vendors.
